Empowering Tabletop Game Designers with Artificial Intelligence

Nowadays, Artificial Intelligence (AI) can write poems, drive cars and aid in disease diagnosis. At Tabletop R&D we believe AI can play a vital role in entertainment and we aim to help game designers create more exciting and enjoyable experiences for millions of players. We use AI to aid the design of tabletop games, such as Settlers of Catan or Ticket to Ride, by testing the game automatically to identify design improvements, a task currently undertaken manually. We aim to work with TTG developers to create robust games that better elicit the intended player experience, in significantly less time and with increased commercial success. We will empower designers to produce more and better games, improving game quality and balance whilst reducing testing time from months to weeks. Independent game designers will benefit most from this revolution in game development as manual testing is currently a barrier to market entry. In this project, we will work with designers to better understand their needs, so that our technology can be integrated seamlessly within their design processes with an easy-to-use interface and game insight reporting. This is a key step for our final goal: to democratise game design for creators and players alike.
