Enabling sustainable materials for cement and concrete

To decarbonise and improve the resilience of the UK construction industry, alternatives materials are required for cement and concrete. Innovate Ash Solutions (IAS) is has an award winning treatment technology for transformation of Air Pollution Control Residue (APCR) from Energy from Waste (EfW) plants into such materials. The first commercial plant should be built in Scotland by mid 2024\. Our products are targeted as an alternative to the pulverised fuel ash (PFA) that used to come from UK coal fired power stations and is now largely imported since these have closed.The process generates large volumes of waste water that is increasingly difficult to dispose of at waste water treatment plants (WWTPs ) and this limits development of future plants. In this project we will develop a novel combination of membrane and evaporative technologies to transform the waste water into dry solids (salts) for use in other industries with 100% recycling of clean water.
