This project proposes a pre-industrial feasibility study to investigate the application of our proprietary technology, Laser Induced Transfer for Printed Electronic Devices (LITPED), for the production of high-resolution silver conductive patterns. Such patterns can be used as interconnects and transparent conductive films in low-weight, ultra-thin touch screens, displays and miniaturised devices in the emerging and fast moving plastic electronics sector. The study will utilise the latest advances in solid state diode lasers to enable the printing of high quality silver patterns that are impossible to obtain by other methods. LITPED is a disruptive technology that will transform the way we use and manufacture electronics. In future, it can be used for point-of-use, user defined manufacture of electronics using simple desk-top printers. The study will culminate with the demonstration of a capacitive touch sensor produced by the LITPED method. This is a collaborative projects between DZP Technologies Ltd (a technology development SME) and the University of Cambridge.
