英文摘要
Full body 3D scanners are expensive (£100K+), and not easily portable owing to the need to calibrate and connect sensors, cameras, lighting and drives to hundreds of power/data cables. Triggered by explosion in demand for 3D Printed ‘Selfies’ we aim to prove the feasibility of building a fast, low-cost, portable full body 3D photogrammetric scanner, integrating a network of 100-200 wireless remote sensors, cameras, and solid state lighting. Built on a ‘pop-up’ style framework, we aim to improve portability/functionality and drive cost to below £10,000 without compromising HD resolution quality data. Key challenges that will be addressed include: (1) errors associated with data acquisition over wireless sensors, (2) processing, (3) analysis, (4) conversion, (5) synchronicity, (6) accommodating human subject (breathing, features, moving). Demand: 1Trillion 2D ‘selfies’ taken in 2014. Gartner (2014) forecast 3D Selfies market will explode from its current $418mn USD to $1.7bn USD by 2018. The global 3D scanner hardware market is forecast to reach $4.9 billion by 2020, registering a CAGR of 12.4% (Allied Research, 2014).
