The wind energy industry needs more accurate and efficient tools to calculate unsteady loads. These tools (forin-service use) will inform yield and asset life decisions. They will be used to reduce O&M costs and hence LCoE.Ocean Array Systems and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult have won support from Innovate UK fortheir Simulation to enable Asset Life Extension project. This will (1) validate a simulation tool for wind turbines /arrays and (2) investigate the feasibility of a control systems module to aid farm-level management of turbulenteffects.Using (velocity and loads) data sets from wind turbine locations, OAS’ simulations enable site-specificpredictions of turbine performance, accounting for turbulence, providing owners with a tool to enable asset-life-extension.
