Gas service pipes deliver gas from the main to the meter and present a safety risk due tothrough-wall corrosion leading to gas escapes. The ageing UK high-rise building stockpresents a significant public safety issue for; the gas distribution companies; the tier 1contractors, SME gas service industry & the public. Gas companies are faced with the highcost of replacing the old infrastructure causing severe disruption to supply. A cost effectiveway to upgrade the failing infrastructure is to recondition the existing pipework. MWPolymers have supplied resins for gas pipes for >27 years and its products are Gas IndustryStandard LC8 & DIN 30658 approved. Our proof of concept project will focus on meetingthe sector need for a reliable, cost effective and easily applied pipe lining that is speciallydesigned for high-rise dwellings & fully compliant with gas regulations. In the project we willdevelop a unique resin formulation and applicator system for varying gas supply pipe sizesand we will demonstrate its viability on complex riser & lateral configurations, without theneed to dig or disturb the fabric of the building.
