If successful, this grant application will fund the development of an instrument, consumableand a range of assays to detect pathogens in food which has the potential to accelerate the rateof detection and, in time, lead to the production of a portable device for sampling in the field.The technology promises a significant saving in the time it takes to get a result and willtherefore be of both economic benefit to the food industry and a health benefit to the largenumbers of people suffering food-borne diseases each year.
