Aquavitrum limited have designed and completed proof of concept trials for the nextgeneration of waste recycling technology which will have the capability to enable therecycling of c 1.4m tonnes of unrecovered packaging glass in the UK, annually, and divert itfrom waste streams such as landfill and incineration.Currently the UK consumes 2.5m tonnes of packaging glass annually with only 1.1m tonnesbeing recycled back into glass products, which is only 44%. Glass is unique in that it can beinfinitely recycled without degrading its clarity and it should be preserved not disposed of.Our technology has the capability of recovering all the remaining glass cullet that is currentlynot recycled, whether it is collected for recycling or contained within blag bag waste. It canalso recover glass from landfill mining activities to further reduce the need to quarry virginsand.Our technology can take extremely dirty glass based feedstocks which are highlycontaminated with other materials and produce clean glass cullet.Successful implementation of the technology will provide huge benefits to the UK inincreasing job opportunities in this growth sector, reduce CO2 emissions, preserve naturalresource, provide costing savings to local councils & waste management companies, makerecycling easier for householders and have a dramatic improvement on the recycling rates inthe UK.
