Biodynamic Lighting for People with Dementia in Care Home Environments

Lighting for Health Ltd are independent lighting consultants specialising in light and health. We design People Centred Lighting Solutions bringing the qualities of natural daylight indoors using biodynamic lighting. The visual, circadian and psychological benefits of biodynamic lighting can improve the health and wellbeing of older people with dementia in care homes to live active and fulfilling lives independently for longer. A study is needed to investigate the running costs of biodynamic lighting versus the cost effectiveness in staff timing, reduction of polypharmacy, improvement in sleep and behaviour of elderly in care homes. We need an expert qualified to analyse qualitative data. The findings would demonstrate to care home providers and investors the cost effectiveness also of installing biodynamic lighting in care homes. It would show that retaining staff that are committed to the care of the residents is best return for money and best care for the elderly.
