The proposed core equipment will be used to facilitate and strengthen a wide range of EPS research at the University of Strathclyde, which falls within EPSRC's strategic remit and is aligned to our strategic themes of Energy; Advanced Manufacturing & Materials; Health & Wellbeing; Ocean, Air & Space; Measurement Science & Enabling Technologies; Innovation & Entrepreneurship; and, Society & Policy. Collectively the core equipment will underpin the research of more than 20 independent academic groups from across the Faculties of Science and Engineering. Key departments will be engaged (Chemical and Process Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Institute of Photonics, Physics, Pure and Applied Chemistry and Naval Architecture Ocean and Marine Engineering) and will be working across diverse fields. Researchers at all career grades from doctoral candidates to experienced professors will benefit from the funding, and will apply their research across key themes including: Advanced Materials Manufacturing and Characterisation, Energy, Healthcare Technologies, Photonics, Chemical Engineering, Plasmas and Fluid Dynamics. The University of Strathclyde is committed to ensuring that the equipment requested is effectively managed and maintained, and that usage is maximised across the University and by external research partners.
