The project is focussed on developing a new class of nano-second light pulsers with the objective of commercialising the resulting IP and background STFC supported research development work. The light pulsers to be developed will be much more compact than existing commercial systems and be packaged as an integrated driver and light source. They will be user-friendly and programmable through a detachable computer interface. We will work closely with prospective customers for the pulsers in the physics research community and explore other market segments and applications that will benefit from this new class of light source. The outcome of a successful project will produce economic impact benefitting the UK. It will also result in more effective and less expensive large scale physics detector experiments and increase the UK and STFC involvement in, and contribution to, these experiments worldwide.
