The project aims to calculate hadronic corrections to light meson decay rates in lattice QCD including isospin-breaking effects with the aim of improving tests of the unitarity of the CKM matrix. Constraining the CKM matrix is key to detecting signals of new physics and characterising them. This work directly combined with experimental results allows for the extraction of process independent values (CKM matrix elements) which can be used to test the limits of the Standard Model.
