Overall, this PhD aims to widen and consolidate the existing literature, which identifies differences in the presentation of autism in males and females. This study seeks to improve acceptance and understanding of women with autism within higher education, removing obstacles and improving the chance of success. Finally, the study aims to develop and evaluate a series of recommendations for universities to facilitate provision of a truly inclusive environment for autistic students of all genders.Research questions:1. What are the barriers and enablers in higher education that impact on autistic women students' experiences?2. In what way do these barriers and enablers impact on educational achievement?3. In what ways can the university environment be adapted to accommodate autistic women students?
