Thermal properties of lanthanides and actinides at high pressure

The project will involve performing experiments to test how different actinides and lanthanides behave as temperatures are increased in the high pressure regime - roughly up to 1Mbar. One of the goals will be to improve the phase diagrams of the particular elements tested. There has been little research done on elements at this end of the periodic table, and so doing this will improve and help complete our knowledge of the behaviours of materials at extreme conditions.
