Efficient wireless transfer of data/power to medical implants

This is a PhD research project in Electrical Engineering.The project deals with the design, manufacturing and test of a wireless transfer mechanism that is efficient in terms of transfer efficiency. Efficient power and data transfer is particularly important for medical implant whereby the dielectric permittivity of the human body renders transfer very lossy.Models using artificial phantom tissues and animal models will be carried out. The work will be part of the Sonopill project which aims to design, manufacture and characterise an ultrasonic pill for gastrointestinal diagnostics and therapeutics.
