My project involves analysing the spectra of sub-stellar bodies to determine their compositions, which may allow us to constrain their formation and evolution. To do this analysis, I am using atmospheric retrieval methods which derive molecular abundances and pressure-temperature profiles by fitting forward models to an observed spectrum. Currently, I am analysing brown dwarf spectra with the aim of constraining their compositions and placing constraints on their formation. This also involves adapting the retrieval method to brown dwarf atmospheres.In the future, I will apply this method to other objects and continue to develop the retrieval method in order to adapt to the increasing quality of the available data.
