Aircraft ancillary structures can be exposed to harsh environments and extreme temperatures. Currently structures are manufactured from steel, but potential issues can be caused when the equipment is moved from one region to another. To design and manufacture aircraft structure equipment to be used in any part of the world will require a detailed research of advanced materials that are available, whilst keeping design specification of the equipment in mind. Coating solutions to conventional material used will also be investigated to develop the most robust solution with new water-based products to give the equipment the longest service life possible.Project aims:This project will evaluate the production method and through put of a growing aircraft support organisation in terms of:- Coatings and corrosion technology- Material selection for improved performance in extreme weather conditions- Manufacturing processes and scheduling
