英文摘要
A novel wave-energy device has been proposed. The general principles of operation of the novel wave-energy device are as follows:- wave amplification in a V-shaped or optimised-shape contraction;- enhanced wave-activated buoy dynamics, with the buoy moving only:i) in the vertical (vertical mast with magnets);ii) azimuthally (curved mast with magnets or a translator); or,iii) under an angle and within a breakwater with overflow during severe weather; and,- these magnets (translator) are moving along a line [concerning (i, iii)] or along a slight arc [concerning (ii)] through a series of fixed (linearly-aligned or curved) coils, connected to a power circuit and the battery or loads for power generation.Note that the device has components of three existing wave-energy devices: the TapChan device (its contraction), a linear IP-wave buoy (its direct-drive generator) and an Oscillating Water Column. In 2013, a proof-of-principle was built, for which a wave-to-wire model was completed in 2019 and presented at the 2019 European Wave and Tidal Energy Conference. The goal of the project is to explore (three) modifications of the novel wave-energy device and perform tests with regular and irregular waves in (two) UoL wave channel(s) with a wavemaker, using experimental and computational means as well as control theory to investigate and improve the designs.
