This project explores the effects of austerity in the UK on everyday lived experience of UK citizens. Using qualitative research methods of participant observation and interviews plus more immersive methods of ethnography and research subject diaries, the project will focus on the individual and everyday aspects of the era of austerity. The key aim is to explore how this affects people's citizenship and the relationship between society and state.
