The project's focus lies in the field of interacting particle systems, an activeresearch area in probability theory. Its aim is to explain the limiting behaviourof many body systems at large times and as the number of interactingcomponents grows. Interacting particle systems are basic models of complexreal-world systems with applications in various areas in physics, engineeringand biology. Emergent large scale phenomena in such systems are often difficultto analyze, and the scope of the project is to provide conditions for theunderlying dynamics to be compatible with observations. The techniques usedoriginate from probability theory, functional analysis and the study partialdifferential equations.
