DESCRIPTION (adapted from the application): Insuring patient safety and scientific integrity is ultimately the responsibility of the Cancer Center Director, Dr. Kenneth Cowan, and the Associate Director for Clinical Research, Dr. Anne Kessinger. To assist them in this responsibility, three independent Cancer Center committees have been formed, Scientific Review Committee, Data and Safety Monitoring Committee, and Audit Committee. Each committee reports to the Associate Director for Clinical Research (except where he is Principal Investigator of a protocol, in that case the committees report their findings directly to the Cancer Center Director).
