英文摘要
I hope to investigate the impact of climate change on voting behaviour in European democracies. My initial hypothesis is that ecological threats will increase the support for radical right parties - not just green parties. Climate change increases the relative scarcity of resources and undermines national sovereignty as it demands supra-national policy responses. This may fuel support for positions advocated by radical right parties, as they favour only restricting access to resources (such as jobs and welfare) to natives and distrust global policymaking bodies. In my analysis, I intend to combine both quantitative and qualitative approachesto explore the impact of ecological threats - such as floods and heatwaves - on voting behaviour in Europe.
