英文摘要
The proposed research would draw from a broad range of image-text contexts across different spheres of international relations in order to explore narratives around military invasion, revolt and revolution. These events provide a worthwhile focus for study as they tend to involve heightened tension between military and civilian groups alongside acts of colonial violence and anti-colonial resistance. Through synchronic and diachronic analysis of a diverse selection of case studies, the research will offer unique insight into thesubject of modern conflict and its representation. The chosen case studies would address a range of examples of military invasion, pacification and uprisingdrawn from different spheres of international relations from 1914-1944, focusing particularly on the European-led military campaigns in the Middle East, Africa, India and South East Asia during the First and Second World War period
