This project aim is to understand the combined effects of strain ageing and irradiation on RPV steel. This topic is understudied in the literature, both in terms of looking at surveillance samples and in terms of using advanced techniques such as APT. By using APT we can see the composition variations at the atomic scale allowing us to measure the concentrations of solute elements at dislocations and clusters. This data has the potential to further extend the life expectancy of RPV steels and therefore PWR reactors.
