The project will initially focus on experimental validation of grit sampling methods and field quantification of grit removal system performance. Currently there are two primarily recognised sampling approaches for wastewater grit: cross-channel sampling (CCS) and full-column sampling (vertically integrated sampling, VIS). Validation of multiple sampling methods will be performed via controlled laboratory testing using wastewater grit surrogates.
