Within a market that values the 'exotic', new social media platforms present novel stages for white passing 'mixed-race' performances. How is it that 'mixed-ness' comes to be viewed as a valued commodity? How do cultural appropriation and the performance of a 'transracial aesthetic' link to the experiences of white passing people who have at some spatiotemporal locations viewed themselves as 'white' and as 'mixed-race'? How is 'racial' or 'ethnic' fluidity capitalised on?
