Understanding Human Rights Violations and Green Harms in the Amazon - A Brazilian Case Study

The study of green harms in the Amazon is not well-explored by criminologists and legal and humanrights scholars, particularly when it comes to forest crimes and human rights violations especially againstIndigenous peoples. Drawing from human rights studies and critical criminology literature, an originalanalysis of those harms will be presented, giving new insights into the concept of guardianship as well asinto the decision-making process of people committing green harms and human rights violations in ruralareas of the Brazilian Amazon. Unlike some of the few existing studies on the Brazilian Amazon, thisresearch also uses the perspective of a researcher from that region, which will contribute to enriching theacademic debate on - and deepening the understanding of - green harms and human rights violations inthe Amazon.
