英文摘要
My proposed research will contribute to a gap in the careermobility and life course research literature by applying theconcept of path dependence (the insight that lateroutcomes are related to earlier outcomes) to processes ofcareer mobility. Particularly, to test the extent to whichearly precarious work experience (non-permanent, fixedtermand low paid), affects the career trajectories ofdifferent groups (by gender, ethnicity, social class), acrossthe life course. For this, I will apply the relatively underusedtechnique of sequence analysis to longitudinal survey dataand large scale online social network data. The findings willhave potential for policy as well as academic impact.
