英文摘要
Building on work from my undergraduate dissertation, I willfurther explore the trial of Dominic Ongwen at the International Criminal Court and its legacies. Using a mixed methodapproach, I will combine ethnography in northern Uganda, with analysis of the court transcripts and videos, furtherinterrogating key findings from my undergraduate dissertation. I will focus on the specific issues of rape, consent, andmarriage. With these issues in mind, the thesis will ask: 1) How does the trial's verdict trial shape and influence ideas innorthern Uganda about justice and accountability? 2) How do lawyers reflect on the challenges of promoting internationalcriminal justice? 3) Has the trial inadvertently facilitated processes leading to the revictimization of witnesses? 4) How farhave international justice mechanisms reinforced Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) hierarchies in peace time? 5) In whatways is violence by 'senior' women in the LRA to more 'junior' women in the LRA expressed inside, and outside of thecourtroom? To do this, it will build on, and contribute to work in feminist and legal geography, focussing particularly onthe multi-scalar nature of geopolitics and geoeconomics.
