In this project the student will improve on previous methods to test gravity using cosmological observations of galaxy clustering and clusters of galaxies. They will use new, state-of-the-art, hydrodynamical galaxy and cluster simulations to assess the impact of modified gravity on various galaxy and cluster observables. One particular focus will be quantifying the effect and uncertainty of galaxy-halo connection using simulations, and assessing the impact of such uncertainty on the use of redshift-space galaxy clustering to test gravity models. They will aim at producing updated constraints on gravity theories from cluster observations, such as number counts, SZ effect, and cluster gas/lensing profiles.
