Globally, the building sector consumes 40% of the energy that contributes to environmental pollution by emitting CO2. Therefore, to abate CO2 emissions from the building sectors, UK and EU both have set a zero-emission target by the end of 2050. Buildings' windows being the weakest part attributes to the increase in energy consumption. Thus, replacing of a traditional single or double glazing window with an energy-efficient novel window is in high demand and of utmost importanceIn this work, a new multilayer advanced switchable window will be explored. This novel window will have multi-fold advantages: (i) As compared to the current scenario, this targeted novel window will contribute towards 20-30% of building energy consumption reduction. (ii) The targeted U -value of this window < 1 W/m2K, which meets both the UK and EU building window current target and the solar heat gain value can be varied from 0.1 to 0.95 depending on the user's needs.
