The "Sex" of Politics: Sexual Difference and Political Ontology

In order to respond to the question-what is sex?-it is necessary to expound an ontological description of sex that remains philosophical, without recourse to biological or cultural discourses. The mining of the psychoanalytic register affords the possibility of conceptualizing sex in the sense that this research advocates, and enables us to think through the effects of this conceptualization. Thus, we may address a further question: what is political ontology once we take into account sexual difference? This inquiry concerns what is ontologically presumed in positing the political: the assumptions about (human) nature, (sexual) essences, and their (symbolic) attributes.
