The proposed research project will bring together the fields of ludology (research into game and gaming), modern material culture, museum studies and postcolonial theory in a novel way. It will examine how colonial content in board games reflects wider media approaches to colonial histories and critically evaluate the role that board games can play in encouraging public engagement with postcolonial theories in museum environments. Through the creation of associated learning resources for primary and secondary teachers, the research project will help to address the lack of diversity across the National Curriculum and provide teachers with much needed, professional standard resources that are free to access and presented in a useable format.
