Our group has a track record in the development of modulated self-assembly protocols for metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), using additives and fine control of synthetic conditions to tune phase formation, defectivity, particle size, surface chemistry, porosity, etc (see perspective: Chem. Sci. 2020, 11, 4546-4562). The majority of our work to date has focused on d- and f- block MOFs; this project will extend and develop new protocols for the synthesis and discovery of MOFs linked by p-block elements, specifically those in group 13 (Al, Ga, In). The new materials discovered in this project will feed into existing projects covering gas storage of flexible materials, characterization of optical and mechanical properties, novel reactivities
