英文摘要
Our project is strongly aligned to the BBSRC priority area of "Advancing the frontiers of bioscience discovery" by "Understanding the rules of life" which aims to "promote creative, curiosity-driven frontier bioscience to address fundamental questions in biology". In a world with rising life-expectancy, the mechanisms that drive longevity is perhaps one of the most fundamental questions of our time. In this project, we have the extraordinary opportunity to study the biology of the oldest known vertebrate and identify novel mechanisms that promote extreme longevity. The work is also aligned to the BBSRC priority area of "Tackling strategic challenges" as it directly addresses the "Bioscience for an integrated understanding of health" which aims to improve human health and wellbeing across the life course.
