Dynamic Poroelastic Numerical Analysis Of Volcano Ground Deformation At Icelandic VolcanoesThe aim of this project is to use new dynamic, poroelastic continuum-mechanics volcano deformation models to reproduce observed deformation at Icelandic target volcanoes and more robustly and realistically constrain magma supply and storage characteristics. We will tailor the parameters of existing theoretical models to the specific Icelandic volcanoes being modelled by incorporating independent geological, geochemical, geotechnical and geophysical data. Geochemical data will include parameters such as magma rheology and melt crystallinity. Geophysical and geotechnical data will include heterogeneous mechanical properties (density, Young's Modulus, shear strength, etc.), surface topography from digital elevation models, and magma reservoir geometries that have previously been inferred through geophysical imaging.
