Optical tweezers of calcium monofluoride molecules

The aim of this project is to load arrays of optical tweezers with individual CaF molecules. Over the course of the project the candidate will develop the molecular beam source, test a new decelerator concept, load dense magneto-optical traps of CaF, cool the molecules to <5 microkelvin and load them into optical tweezers. This will involve developing a novel deterministic loading mechanism for the tweezers as well as testing a blue MOT, not yet tried for CaF molecules.
