This experimental project will use an array of laser-cooled strontium atoms for applications in optical clocks and precision frequency measurement. The research will involve using ultra-stable lasers and femtosecond comb systems, as well as state-of-the-art methods for laser cooling and trapping. Areas of study include generating entangled state using high-lying Rydberg energy levels, and developing new methods for interrogating atomic arrays at the single-particle level.
