Building an understanding of gender-based differences in service use and outcome relating to emergency care for injuries

To investigate disparities in how women present to Emergency Departments (ED) with injuries, the care they receive and what happens to them, compared to men, to inform policy to address differences in care, morbidity and mortality. Objectives: Describe what is already known about gender-based disparities faced bywomen when they seek emergency healthcare for injuries (Work Package (WP1)).1 Describe the effect of gender on injury presentation, quality of care received and experiences of care (WP2).2 Explore women's experience of receiving emergency care for injuries to understand what would help to receive better care in the future (WP3)3 Synthesise quantitative and qualitative findings (WP4) to understand whether gender-based disparities are present within Emergency HealthcareServices.
