In this project I will argue that women's poetic manuscript production in the long seventeenth century self-consciously twins authorial fragility with material vulnerability. The project, structured around the stages and components of manuscript construction, explores how women navigated their roles as political and literary agents in the context of a distinctively early modern understanding of writing. My work will set the poetry and the materiality of these gendered, under-researched manuscripts in dialogue, arguing that the networked ecologies of the page allow for the distribution of words and bodies along lasting webs of connectivity.
