Currently, battery manufacturing processes are not a closed-loop process. The configuration parameters are pre-set, and cannot be changed during manufacturing, and one only knows whether the product is good or not until after the manufacturing process is finished and the product sample is tested offline. This results in a high level of wastage mainly due to the lack of real-time evaluation and feedback system for process configuration optimization. Therefore, there are urgent demands for NDE developments. And ultrasound has demonstrated promising capabilities in determining key performances of a multiplayer electrode sheet, such as porosity and tortuosity.
