Exploring the development of dialogic teaching skills amongst trainee instrumental/vocal teachers: A participatory action research project

This research will investigate the experiences of trainee instrumental/vocal teachers at the University of York as they develop dialogic teaching skills. Building on findings from my MA research (Poole & Norton, submitted for review in Music Education Research), this project will use participatory action research to evaluate the efficacy of peer-to-peer discussion within this learning process and examine the success of practical strategies to facilitate dialogue between instrumental/vocal teachers and students. Findings have potential to deliver 'real world' impact by informing the delivery of training courses throughout the UK and beyond.
