The project will investigate boronate rearrangement reactions, ultimately targeting alkyl boronic ester heterocycles. There are few of these known, unlike their aryl counterparts. Simple synthesis methods are sought-after as these heterocycles could have potentially wide usage in the pharmaceutical industry, serving as building blocks for drug molecules via important transformations such as the hugely popular Suzuki-Miyaura coupling
