An inert atmosphere glove box is a standard and indispensible equipment for research in inorganic and organometallic chemistry. The primary function of a dry box in our laboratory is for the storage/transferring of air and moisture sensitive compounds and the preparation of oxygen-free samples for the study of luminescence, photochromic switching and photoelimination properties of organoboron compounds and metal complexes. Because the photochemistry work requires a box that is free of halogenated solvent or reagents, our research requires two dedicated glove boxes, one for work that needs halogenated solvent/reagent free conditions and the other for all work that can tolerate or require the use of halogenated solvents or reagents.
