This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This is a study to test out the methods we want to use in a RO1 application for which we are requesting funds from the National Institute of Mental Health. We will study 5 young women, ages 15-18 years, from the Teen Pregnancy Clinic at OSU and see if our methods of obtaining blood and saliva during late pregnancy are well-tolerated by them. We will also determine if our methods of getting blood from the umbilical cord at delivery work well. After the baby is born, we will check to see of our methods of getting saliva from the mother and baby are efficient and if our methods of examining the baby and watching the mother and baby interact need to be changed in any way. Finally, we will also try out our methods of getting information from the mother's obstetrical records.
