This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The BRC maintains one of two culture facilities available at the MBL and perhaps the best maintainted and equipped. We provide access to this facility on a limited basis to visitors not using our specialised resources. Salmon's group is one such example. They make summer use of the BRC cell culture facilities. Their research has for some years focused on the mechanisms behind spindle formation and control in cell growth. This summer saw the use of the facility to propagate PtK1 tissue cells expressing spindle checkpoint proteins Mad2 and Cdc20 fused to GFP. The cells were used in several different collaborative experiments with members of the Cell Division Group.
