Huntingtin protein is the product of gene IT15, encompassing 67 exons and is approximately 3150 amino acids in length. An expansion of a repeated stretch of glutamines in the protein is linked to the fatal, autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder, Huntington¿¿s disease. Cytoplasmic huntingtin colocalizes with microtubules and interacts with ss-tubulin and evidence may suggests that huntingtin is involved in intracellular transport and may interact with many protein partners. Here, both wild type and aberrant natively folded huntingtin will be used in a systematic screen of yeast ORFs. These data should help elucidate the nature of the natively folded protein.
