英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The main purposes of the study are (1) to determine how HIV infection develops at various sites in the body (including blood, semen, vaginal secretions and spinal fluid) and how the body responds to new infection, (2) to find out how safe and well tolerated once a day dosing of combination antiretroviral treatment is for new HIV infected persons, and to see how well this treatment limits the damage to teh immune system, and (3) to determine the frequency of resistant viruses in newly infected persons and how and if they affect response to treatment.
