This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. This study's objectives are to describe toxicities of a combination of arsenic trioxide and pamidronate disodium at 4 dose levels; assess PKs of these 2 drugs; determine if this drug combination effects phosphorylation of EGFR on buccal mucosa cells; and determine preliminary data for response. For patients with diagnosis of multiple myeloma, levels of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B will be evaluated. This Phase I study is open to patients with solid tumor or multiple myeloma refractory to standard therapy. Cycles will be given every 28 days until progressive disease.
