This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This study's objectives are to describe toxicities of a combination of arsenic trioxide and pamidronate disodium at 4 dose levels; assess PKs of these 2 drugs; determine if this drug combination effects phosphorylation of EGFR on buccal mucosa cells; and determine preliminary data for response. For patients with diagnosis of multiple myeloma, levels of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B will be evaluated. This Phase I study is open to patients with solid tumor or multiple myeloma refractory to standard therapy. Cycles will be given every 28 days until progressive disease.
