This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This study will evaluate 800 PD patients as well as 800 controls matched one to one by age, gender, ethnicity, and geographical region. The two main hypotheses are: (1) Among the cases and controls, higher levels of lead in bone are associated with higher odds of PD case. (2) The effect of bone lead will be highest in individuals with heterozygous or homozygous for HFE gene mutation
